JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) confirmed that until now there are no plans to temporarily stop sales of the Alphard and Land Cruiser 300 models in Indonesia, as happened in Japan.
This decision was taken because the company had already made adjustments to the amount of demand and supply that had to be met in the national market.
However, because cars are direct imported products (completely built-up/CBU) from Japan, TAM Marketing Director Anton Jimmi Suwandy admitted that there were a few obstacles regarding the waiting period for delivery to consumers, aka the pivot.

“So far, we in Indonesia have no plans to stop sales, especially these two models, even though demand is very high,” said Anton when contacted Kompas.comWednesday (13/12/2023).
“We continue to coordinate with all parties, both principals and dealers, to make sure balancing between supplies And demand. “However, because this is a CBU and demand is also high globally, of course there is a slight impact on the waiting period,” he continued.
In general, currently the pivot for the Alphard and Land Cruiser 300 has reached 8 months since the first order was made. But there is still a possibility that the duration could be faster depending on production and variant allocation.
Unfortunately, on this occasion, Anton was reluctant to state the exact number of units allocated for each product.

“Meanwhile, the Alphard has just been launched at GIIAS, especially for the hybrid, demand is quite high. The lead time can be up to 8 months, but in the future we will also ensure that the waiting time for this model will be shorter,” he said again.

These limitations occurred because several suppliers had not yet recovered from the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, demand for cars continues to skyrocket, exceeding manufacturing expectations.
The company’s projection for the 2023 fiscal year is that demand from Toyota and Lexus is only 90,000 units. However, currently it is reported that it has reached 3.34 million units.
The two products on the list are the Alphard and Land Cruiser 300. These two cars are new Toyota products which are also marketed in Indonesia.
