Azizi Developments announced the finalisation of a $571.82 million (AED 2.1 billion) acquisition of a broad range of machinery, industrial tools and operational assets, creating a wholly owned construction fleet. The purchase encompasses thousands of individual pieces distributed among the group’s primary operating entities, such as Gardenia Contracting, Freesia Electromechanical Works Contracting, Royal Infra Contracting, as well as Azizi’s own manufacturing plants.
Operational Impact
The company’s Asset, Plant & Stores Department is overseeing the investment. Among the most significant items are 113 tower cranes, 13 luffing-jib cranes, 77 passenger hoists, 229 suspension cradles, 70 heavy-transport prime movers and in excess of 500 passenger buses.
By possessing an entire plant-and-machinery fleet, Azizi gains full operational independence. This strategy eliminates reliance on external rental services, thereby reducing exposure to supply bottlenecks and accelerating project timelines. The shift to owned equipment has already yielded results: internal reallocation of the fleet has lowered third-party trailer rentals by over 80%.

Farhad Azizi, Group CEO of Azizi Group, stated: “A developer that relies on others for its cranes ultimately relies on others for its promises. With this investment, the machinery that shapes our skyline is now our own, and with it comes full command over the precision, quality and pace of everything we build. Owning the entire chain, from factory floor to finished tower, is what allows us to make every commitment to our investors with complete confidence. Ultimately, this is an investment in our own assets, our people, our delivery promises, and our long-term contribution to the UAE’s built environment.”
The acquisition forms part of a broader initiative to enlarge Azizi’s asset portfolio. In addition to heavy equipment, the programme incorporates piling services, precast concrete production, interior fit-out, joinery and aluminium works, all aimed at bolstering the developer’s market standing.
Operating against a multi-billion-dollar pipeline, the newly obtained assets have already been deployed. Azizi indicated that the fleet now directly dictates the timelines for its residential and mixed-use developments. This capital outlay aligns with a larger supply-chain control strategy that also involves the creation of workforce communities in Dubai and Sharjah for more than 31,000 employees. To date, the developer has delivered over 45,000 homes to buyers representing more than 100 nationalities and is currently constructing roughly 150,000 units.
